    Very interesting video, especially seeing some of early blanks. Considering that the criminal trial for the armorer on the set of "Rust" just concluded a few months ago, do you think you could offer your opinion on that unfortunate incident and how safety should be done (and obviously wasn't in that case)? For the life of me, I still can't comprehend potentially live rounds being on a movie set today.

    Why is it only millionaires can afford to buy Class 3 guns? Can you imagine the line of customers at the gun store today if the classic Tommy gun was selling for 200 dollars, like in days of yore. $200.00

    That "traditional 50s classic gunfighter pose", heal rocked back, somehow looked familiar the moment I saw it in the movie. Thanks so much for the close-ups and discussion about it.

    The great gun hand Thell Reed was a local boy in Southern Calif. In his family BBQ restaurant was the mounted Alaskan bear he shot as a kid. He was so good with his guns, and he made killer sandwiches as well.

    I think the Tommy gun is overused in gangster films set in this time period because of how iconic it looks and also it's full automatic fire looks cool. From what I remember reading about police and criminals of this era is the Thompson wasn't really in high demand for the reason you stated being only 45 pistol caliber but also because the Thompson was so expensive and heavy. The only documented case of Tommy guns being actually used was during the St. Valentine's day massacre.

    • @charlierubenstein2886
      @charlierubenstein2886 19 часов назад

      If you think Tommy guns were expensive then, you should see what they cost since the 1986 gun act.

    People who go nuts over period minutia like set screws vs pins in a pistol always amazed me. Seems they definitely need more important things in their lives. My buddy was like that with cars. If he saw a car in a movie a year before it was made, having the wrong trim etc. he would get up and leave.

    Ted Hinton said he wasn't sure he could shoot Bonnie. There were long discussions whether to ask for their surrender. Ted was told to use the BAR to hit the engine. If you look at the car, there is a trace of bullet holes from the engine compartment to the driver door handle. I wish directors and producers would quit putting artistic license over fact. There was no Thompson or Winchester lever action.

    Taylor’s/Cimmarons are nothing but Ubertis or Chiappas depending on when they were bought, all Italian reproductions.

    • @robertwest7633
      @robertwest7633 21 день назад

      You're correct, however both Taylor's and Cimmaron do a lot more QC on the guns they sell than their Italian origins. Also, while not 100% in either direction, Taylor's tends to deal more in Uberti's and Cimmaron tends to be more Piettas. Most of my cowboy guns are Ubertis from Taylors although I think one of my rifles ('66 Henry) came from Cimmaron.

    You did good. great movie. Buster was very believable. When he shot the bartender from around his back, and sunshine showing through the hole in the bartender was one of my favorite seens in the entire movie. Really good stuff. Never will forget the wounded cowboy crawling on the floor of the saloon towards the door and Buster saying, "here, let me get that for you". Priceless.

      True! I get caught up in the details sometimes too much, when compared to the style of the film, and the props that are outside of my control. It really wasn't meant to be a realistic period piece. I just love the early style colts I guess...
